Veja a carta convite:

Dear Dr. Milton Rosa,

On behalf of the editors, and MERGA, I would like to invite you to become a member of the Editorial Board for Mathematics Education Research Journal. The journal is published by Springer and is well established in the mathematics education community.

Over the past few years we have proactively sought to move MERJ from a professional publication to one of international standing and we would value you being part of this exciting journal.

In terms of workload, we are seeking to increase membership on the EB due to the increasing numbers of papers being submitted to the journal. Our process is that all papers are reviewed by 3 people, one of whom is an EB member. This helps to maintain our standards and consistency. You may be asked to review 2-4 papers a year. The load will depend on the types of papers coming through. We try to match papers to our EB member's interest area/s. However there are some times when this is not possible so you may be asked to review something outside your area.

IN terms of what we would be hoping from you, is that you would help maintain quality standards and accept papers that are going to make the journal strong and of interest to readers. As such, we are focusing on the inclusion of good, innovative papers. As a journal that is marketed as "Australasian" to demarcate us from other Journals such as JRME, ESM, etc, we ask that our EB members also remind authors of their requirement that papers must cite research from the Australasian context. One of the challenges we have had is that papers from particular regions, e.g. US, only cite papers from that region. We are seeking to broaden this out to recognise the research being conducted in the region, and help boost citations from the region.

If you are willing to be involved, we would greatly value your input and contribution.

In terms of term on the EB, the Board is revised annually to ensure we have active members who are distributed widely across interest areas. However, we would hope that the term is about 3 years, although many of our members have been on the Board for longer.

If you could let me know of your interest in the next two weeks (by the end of March) that would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks,

Robyn Jorgensen
